The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute's research team conducts extensive side-by-side testing of products using carefully controlled variables. After testing is complete, all of the products are rated on specific attributes such as functionality, ease of use, and durability.

An independent testing laboratory placed each light strand in a 131º F air circulation chamber for 12½ days to simulate three years of use. Every bulb on The Best Christmas Lights remained illuminated for the entirety of the test, far superior performance to lesser models that allowed up to 10% of their bulbs to burn out.

When ten of the bulbs on The Best Christmas Lights were removed, all of its remaining lights remained lit, unlike other models that experienced complete light failure when only four bulbs were removed.
