HAMMACHER SCHLEMMER INTRODUCES THE ROWBIKE.

New York, NY, April 5, 2011 - Continuing its 163-year history of offering the Best, the Only and the Unexpected, Hammacher Schlemmer introduces The Rowbike, a recumbent bicycle that's propelled by a rowing motion.

Just like a rowing machine, The Rowbike is powered by the rider pushing off of the stationary foot platforms and pulling the handlebars. This rowing motion slides the seat backwards and transmits power to the chain-driven bicycle wheels, propelling The Rowbike forward.

"The Rowbike provides a rigorous cardiovascular workout and builds upper- and lower-body muscles, allowing exercisers get twice the workout while breaking the monotony of rowing on an indoor, stationary machine," explained Hammacher Schlemmer's General Manager, Fred Berns.

Invented by the creator of Rollerblade inline skates, The Rowbike is steered like a traditional bicycle and it has seven gears that are easily adjusted on the handlebar for maximizing efficiency whether you're cycling across flat expanses or climbing inclines.

The Rowbike's patented cam, derailleur gear system, and 20" alloy wheels with 100 psi tires provide a smooth, responsive ride that can reach up to 20 MPH.

The Rowbike is available from Hammacher Schlemmer for $1,400. For more information about this product, please visit www.hammacher.com/11846 or contact Trish Hammond at (847) 581-8987 or via e-mail at pr@hammacher.com
