DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER BEGINS "UN-ROAD TRIP" ON HAMMACHER SCHLEMMER'S 14 M.P.H COOLER

New York, NY, May 26, 2009 - Boaz Frankel, a 27 year-old documentary filmmaker who is attempting to travel across the U.S. using every mode of transportation except a car, kicked off his "Un-Road Trip" aboard Hammacher Schlemmer's 14 M.P.H. Cooler--the only ridable, three-wheeled cooler.

Frankel rode the cooler for 15 miles (the maximum battery life from a single charge) as the first leg of his journey. The cooler is fully insulated and can hold 24 12-oz. beverage cans and 8 lbs. of ice. The enclosed frame is built from durable yet lightweight aircraft aluminum.

"It goes 14 M.P.H. thanks to the 500-watt electric motor, which is amazingly silent," Frankel said.

A graduate of New York University who has been producing TV and video for seven years, Frankel is embarking on his cross-country adventure to highlight energy-efficient or unconventional alternatives to the automobile. "With the price of gas fluctuating unpredictably, it seems like a good time to look beyond our favored mode of transportation," he said.

Frankel began his journey on April 19, 2009 and plans to return at the end of June. He will be appearing at Hammacher Schlemmer's store on May 27, 2009. Throughout his trip, Frankel routinely updates his website http://unroadtrip.blogspot.com when he is able to find a power outlet, allowing people to accompany him online.
