Hammacher Schlemmer History
Throughout the 1860s, William Schlemmer began to gradually buy out Charles Tollner's stake in the company. When Tollner passes away in 1867, 26 year-old Schlemmer enters into a partnership with Hammacher. As a result, the company changes its name to Hammacher & Co.

On February 7, 1867, Laura Ingalls Wilder was born near Pepin, a small town in the "Big Woods" of Wisconsin. Her childhood and experiences here formed the basis for her famed "Little House on the Prairie" book series.
