The leaflets are weather-resistant and flame-retardant silk coated with a material that protects against UV rays, and the stem is made of durable molded plastic and covered in the actual fibrous sheath of a real fan palm. Three water-resistant 10-watt halogen lights mount to the stem, and can be positioned individually to direct light upward or downward.
