This innovative hand vacuum harnesses disinfecting UV light, a vibrating pad, and high-powered suction to eradicate the millions of microscopic dust mites and bacteria accumulated in mattresses and bedding that can deny allergy and asthma sufferers a peaceful slumber (Play Video). An 8-watt sanitizing UV-C lamp helps to eradicate dust mites and kills 99.9% of bacteria as you draw it along the surface of the bed. (The lamp shuts off automatically when the vacuum is picked up for safety.) A tamping pad oscillates at 3,600 beats per minute to shake microscopic particles loose from sheets and pillows. The 1/2-hp vacuum with dual-stage filters collects the microscopic particles so they can't be recirculated. The system cleans so effectively that the vacuum was awarded the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval. The UV lamp lasts 2-3 years, the filters 12-18 months.
