The Best Steam Iron.
The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute tested 14 models of steam irons and this one was deemed best by virtue of its long-lasting pressurized steam supply that produces smartly pressed garments in a fraction of the time of lesser models. This iron's separate 33-oz. boiler produces 345° F steam using ordinary tap water--44° F higher than lesser models--that lasts for up to two hours, unlike others that run dry in minutes, and its patented stainless-steel and alloy construction prevents clogging. The smooth-gliding aluminum sole plate emits steam at 3.5-bar pressure to remove wrinkles from a 100% cotton shirt with just a single pass, and a silk handkerchief in two passes, whereas lesser models require 4-15 passes. A knob on the iron adjusts steam output. The boiler and iron have independent heat controls, allowing dry ironing of delicate fabrics, and the unit also functions as a steamer to remove wrinkles from curtains and dresses. The steam hose can be attached to either side of the iron to accommodate left-handed or right-handed users, and a natural cork handle stays cool to the touch. Includes a removable iron rest. Plugs into AC. 12" H x 11" W x 8" D. (12 lbs.)
