It requires only downloading the iLuv App Clock application for free from the Apple website onto an iPhone and docking with the speaker. Rotating the iPhone vertically or horizontally automatically switches the screen. It displays the weather and date, and plays alarm sounds (also from an iPhone's music libary). The built-in speaker provides robust, clear sound. An auxiliary input accommodates other audio devices (requires 3.5mm cable). Includes AC adapter (or works with six AA batteries; not included).
