Product Story

This is the clay cookware hand-made on the banks of the Magdalena River in La Chamba, Colombia using earthenware techniques that date back centuries before the Incan Empire. Hand-crafted using locally mined clays, the town’s artisans burnish each piece by hand and fire it on-site in a low oxygen kiln to produce the glossy, black exterior. The painstaking process and natural mica-rich materials give the cookware an authentic and elegant look, and provide it with distinctive cooking properties that enable it to retain heat, withstand temperature changes without cracking, and ensure that food is cooked evenly. Ideal for roasting chicken, cooking corn chowder, or making Colombian Ajiaco, the earthenware is safe for use on a stovetop, or in an oven or microwave. Hand wash. Dimensions may vary.  Cannot be shipped to PO Boxes, APO Addresses or Outside of the USA.
