Unlike plastic pet fountains that develop cracks, this 72-oz. drinking fountain is made from durable, nonporous glazed ceramic that mitigates bacteria growth. Ceramic resists bacteria (commonly found on porous plastic surfaces) that cause acne on a pet's mouth and chin. The ceramic drinking fountain is dishwasher-safe, enabling simple, thorough cleaning. The fountain has an integrated pump that draws water from the basin to the top of the dome where it pools and cascades back into the 2 1/4" H reservoir. The falling stream attracts pets with the sound of trickling water and entices them to drink more often--a practice that can reduce the pet's risk of kidney disease and urinary tract infection. Love the product however have had to return it once do to a problem that it just stopped flowing. It was replaced at no cost. Just had to be replaced due to motor problems, we were told we could not receive parts. The fountain was replaced at no cost to us. We are very satisfied with the customer service we have received because our cats love this fountain!

I've had one of these for several years. My cat loves having fresh water and drinks from it several times a day. It's so much easier to clean than the other pet fountains on the market. Hammacher Schlemmer stands behind their products. When they could not replace the motor that burned out, they replaced the whole fountain. Excellent customer service!

This is the best water fountain I have purchased. My first ceramic and I and my cats love it. Since we started using it my cats are drinking tons more water! I have to add water 2 or 3 times a day, where with the plastic ones, maybe once a day. The fountain design is great, it plays to all our different cats likes, some like the running water, some like the bowl area and some like the fountain top. I love watching them enjoy it. It is worth the money!!
Very Good Fountain

After few days of acclimation my two cats love their fountain. One also loves to just sit and watch the water bubble. Definitely a good thing for doting cat parents.Biggest drawback is noise from filter. You have to experiment with how much water to fill up with -- more water means less noise. Sometimes filter very quiet and fades into background but sometimes it is more noticeable. But overall minor problem and you'll adjust quickly. I've had other fountains and all make some noise from filter. Highly recommend! No chin acne!
Problems with motor

My cats love this watering system. The biggest problem is the little motor. I've had to have it replaced 3 or more times. I wish that a motor could be sent instead of packing up the whole thing to send back when all that's needed is the motor. I do recommend this watering bowl inspite of the problems I've had.

LOUD PUMP

Darn! I was so excited about this founatain because I love Hammacher as a company and they have such great products. We were looking for a ceramic or stainless fountain for our cat and finally found the "it" fountain. However, Samson laughed when he heard the loud noise coming from the pump that drowned out the pleasant noise it was supposed to make for the fountain. After the 3rd night night of NOISE from the ABNOXIOUS (and cheap) pump, we finally unplugged it and popped a bottle of Champagne and went to sleep. This product is going back and we'll continue our search for a quality fountain.
