This is the two-player variation of the "Shut The Box" dice-throwing games that have been popular in pubs since the 12th century. Players race to stand up their rows of wooden blocks by rolling dice to correspond with the numbers of each block. When all blocks are standing, players score a point by rolling a single coin down the groove of the completed "bridge" into their cup, in honor of the Irish folklore from which the game is loosely derived. Unlike similar Shut the Box-type games, this version allows players to counter their opponent's progress, which adds a new layer of strategy and competition. The first player to deposit four coins into his cup wins. The felt-lined heart pine wood board folds in half to become a convenient carrying case.
