Product Story

This is the hat patterned after those worn by intrepid cattle drovers in Australia's bush, but fashioned from full-grain kangaroo leather for exceptional softness and strength. Produced at only three tanneries in Australia, kangaroo leather has long been coveted for its rare combination of softness, light weight and durability--it is 4-5 times stronger than cowhide of the same thickness. A 3"-wide brim shields the face and protects the back of the neck from the sun's punishing rays for a UPF rating of 50+--the highest attainable. The hat's supple leather and reinforced brim allows crushing and folding for travel, but immediately returns to its original shape when unpacked. The exterior of the hat is natural tanned suede, the interior has a smooth, glossy finish. With cooling air vents, a braided rawhide band, and tabs for attaching a chin strap. Made in Australia. Brown. Sizes S or XXL. (4 oz.)

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper size according to the standard hat sizing chart shown below.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
