This is the portable device that preserves cherished slides and film negatives at 9 megapixel resolution without being tethered to a computer or electrical outlet. Slides (35mm) and negatives (110 and 135) are placed into a tray that aligns each properly when it is inserted into the converter. The touch of a button captures the image in 3-5 seconds as a JPEG file that can be immediately previewed on the built-in 2 1/2" TFT color display and stored onto an SD memory card (8 GB card sold below stores over 10,000 pictures). You can transfer images to a PC running Windows 7, Vista, or XP, or a Mac via the included USB cable (or remove your SD card). You can also connect it directly to a TV to view the conversion process or your converted images. Its 9 MP CMOS sensor provides 3328 x 2216 resolution, automatic exposure control, and color balance, resulting in clear digital images without loss of quality. Its rechargeable battery provides up to three hours of operation from a three-hour charge using the included AC adapter (or a six-hour charge via USB). Includes photo editing software that allows optional manipulation of converted digital photos. 6 1/2" H x 4 1/4" W x 4 1/4" D. (1 lb.)

The instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired but once I contacted C.S. they clued me in as to the proper procedure. The scanner works great, have not had any problems. I have been looking for something like this for several years. I have a ton of slides I took when I was in the Air Force in South East Asia, 50 years ago. I needed something to convert them to digital and this was it. I am happy with this product.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great product for the price!
from Plano, TX
I used this to convert 650+ slides to digital format. The pixel quality was great for this price point - about 1 Mb file per slide. Very clear when shown on computer. Was rather cumbersome doing 3 slides at a time, but I was naming each digital file by date and people in it, so I was planning to spend time doing it right. I wish there was a way to save it directly to computer instead of saving to memory card first, then transfering to computer. In general, very pleased!

I LOVE this machine !!
from Dallas, Texas
I simply love this scanner. I am so glad I chose to ignore the more negative comments. Delivery was fast and even came with postage paid return label. Very impressed by that. The scanner is so very simple to use; very fast; makes marvelous copies of slides and negatives. It does not want to turn on sometimes, but I just remove the battery and re-install it and it turns on. I did not put this as a "con" because it is such a simple "fix". I have also removed the battery and run it on "electric"...works just fine. I mistakenly thought I had to have a "microSD" card. Glad to know it uses a regular SD card. Great product !!!
Thanks to my wife!

She pointed me to it in the HS catalog. I am 81 with over 11,000 slides. The copier package and extra trays arrived last week. I am extremely happy with the results of copying my oldest slides first; our wedding trip 58 years ago. They are now in my computer and are really clear, sharp and bright. This is absolutly the best DYI solution. Get the extra trays so you can preload more slides.

Great for converting slides to the computer and is as easy as 1,2,3. It would be 5 stars if there was a way to preview the individual slides before you put them in the tray and insert them in the converter.

The past comes into the present.
from Vero Beach Florida
After the initial setup which took me longer than it should have. Copying slides to card was so easy. The quality of pics is identical to that of the slide. No better or no worse. I now have all my parents slides on a cd or DVD Easy storage and made copies for family members Shhhh also making photo books online for parents and siblings as Xmas presents.
OK for Saving Old Slides
from Corning, NY
This unit works acceptably for old slides of marginal quality where the limited 9 MB resolution of the device is less noticeable. However, the instructions are not complete and sometimes unclear. Strange results can occur if the unit is unplugged or the sequence of operations is not exactly correct (which must be learned by trial and error). The provided software is buggy and does not perform all specified functions. This device is useable for non-critical applications, but be sure to copy all images to your hard drive as soon as possible to prevent unexpected corruption by the device when it remains connected to the computer.

Very Good Converter.
from Torrance, California
I got my first converter years ago. It had a malfunction inside after a lot of use. I returned it and got the newer version and used it and it sure was a great improvement. After a lot of usage something inside gave out so I returned it and got this great improved model which is working just great. I have converted hundreds and hundreds of slides and am very happy with the item. Roland C. Ellingson

An absolute great deal!
I had around 700 slides that I was able to convert in two nights. This product was great. I suggest that you spend the money and purchase the extra slide trays. You will get 3 extra slide trays plus 3 for negatives which will help make the process go a lot faster. I even had some negatives and it was easy to place them in the trays to convert. Overall the best xmas present I ever gave myself.

Finally found a converter that works!

Greatest thing is that it works perfectly and permits converting 35mm slides wirelessly to photos in my Mac. Been looking for this for years with no success until now.Greatest problem is slide tray is very difficult to open (my finger was bleeding after opening the tray a number of times), has very small capacity (3slides) and additional 35mm trays alone not available, price of three, two that I will not use, is excessive. Should offer pack of one size needed.
