Do you dread vacuuming because the vacuum is heavy, awkward, gets caught on furniture and corners? And has a cord that is easy to trip over and has to be moved from outlet to outlet around the house?

I'm an almost 60-year-old woman with some arthritis. I can't say enough good things about this vacuum. I use it almost daily for a quick once-over in our much-used areas--by the doors, family room, and kitchen. In less than 15 minutes (its battery time) I can return my whole first floor to a state of--well, you know, that "just vacuumed" look. The suction is amazingly good and rivals my "regular" vacuum which has very good suction indeed. My floors are hardwood or tile, but the Dyson also does a good job on our little area rugs by the doors.

When I have really neglected my vacuuming and/or have large areas to cover, I bring out my "regular" vacuum. Every time I have to do that, I am thankful for my lightweight, cordless Dyson "stick." The "regular" corded, heavy vacuum hurts my arthritic hands, is almost too heavy for me, and the whole process of lugging it out, plugging it in, pulling the cord out, etc. is clumsy and takes time.

This Dyson vacuum is an excellent adjunct to a "regular" vacuum, and in a small apartment or for an older person who doesn't really create much mess, it would be entirely sufficient.

Another advantage is the ability to do stairs--both my basement stairs and those to the upstairs. It was nearly impossible to use my other vacuum to do them...

For those who think there should be a way to turn it on without having to continually push the "on" button--consider this: this design really saves the battery. Say I'm moving a chair and this takes a few seconds--it's off, and the battery isn't being used. I find that there are many little intervals like this as I vacuum (bending down to vacuum under the sofa, for example. Which this vacuum does very well).

I'm a pretty good housekeeper, but my home is definitely cleaner now that I have this vacuum!

My floors have never been so clean, I use this vacuum daily and it has saved a lot of floor washes! I keep it near my kitty's litter box area...no more gritty bits being tracked throughout the house!

I decided that our new vacuum would be light, cordless and powerful. The battery lasts long enough to complete the job I undertake and the cleaning power is excellent. I am very faithful about filter cleaning and brush maintenance. It is exactly the right vacuum for me. Even my husband, initially not very enthusuastic about my choice, loves it!
