As already mentioned, the unit does not improve clarity...it is only an amplifier. The volume control is difficult to use and is loose ..does not hold a setting.

Excellent Hearing Aid at moderate cost

I have tried numerous hearing aids at so-called (self-promoted)"professional hearing aid providers". You may already know that they perform tests using what are apparently sophisticated instruments unique to a "professional" hearing- aid center, which then results in their recommendation for a hearing aid device which can run in the thousands of dollars. These persons are not professional medical doctors although many so represent themselves.I have found the hearing aid I purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer to be superior to anything else I have tried from the "professional" hearing aId centers and it is sold at a very very appealing price. I am pleased that with this aid, I can now hear normally ( as if I had no hearing problem whatsoever)- I strongly recommeNd this to anyone with a hearing problem who is seeking a reasonable cost solution. AND IMPORTANTLY, IF IT DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU - RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND.

We use this in one ear & a regular hearing aide in the other.It is a great unit; just a little heavy.

It does take time to get use to it. Not only the feel of the aid in the ear; but the sounds. Presently it makes my dogs nails clack clack clack vs formerly click click click. TV sounds are not a big improvement if you have background noises.

Overjoyed...until it just wouldn't work

I was overjoyed when I first tried this...it worked! I wore this every day for almost a month,recharged it as instructed. Then just about a week ago, it started going 'in and out' it would work, and then stop. Now it doesn't work at all.I am returning this per H/S one year guarantee. I am so disappointed.

Things that are good: I could actually hearwords and naturally I turned the TV volume down to a normal volume. I still have to watch lipswhen a person is speaking to me, but it is somuch better than not being able to hear.Things not so good: Short battery life and hardto use the volume control.
