This is the seat cushion used by truck drivers to relieve point-of-contact pressure and reduce lower back discomfort inherent in long periods of sitting. Unlike foam or springs that apply counter pressure, the medical-grade elastic gel interior has a patented honeycomb shape that distributes weight evenly to adjacent columns, eliminating pressure points and providing support. The cushion fits in most chairs and its 2 1/2"-thick gel interior creates the sensation of sitting on air as it conforms to the unique shape of your body, mitigating impact on joints and muscles no matter where you sit on the surface. The durable elastic gel won't develop permanent depressions and it immediately reclaims its original form when you get up. The reversible cushion has soft and firm sides, a washable polyester and spandex cover, an integrated handle, and a non-slip bottom to keep it in place. 2 1/2" H x 17 1/2" W x 14" D. (6 3/4 lbs.)

After 15 years practicing dental hygiene, another 15 years sewing, often 8-10 hours (own business), and 15 years running 5 miles, I ended up with ischial bursitis. At first it was unilateral, then later bilateral.Insufficient fat to cushion the bottom margin of my pelvis caused excrutiating pain, whenever I sat longer than 35 minutes, and unless I stand, heightened pain begins to shoot down the entire length of my legs. Worse still, I practice piano several hours a day, and have experimented with ALL types of cushions, including the memory foam type. If we're eating out on unupholstered chairs, I gerally need to finish my meal standing, which I'm sure appears rudely inconsiderate. In addition to my yearly physical, I went to an orthopedic surgery group, who found no pathology, a physical therapist, that couldn't help, and next, (albeit ignorantly and desperate for relief), a chiropractor for six months--who made zero difference. I even bought the best rated inversion bed, to hang upsidedown, hoping to relieve the pressure on my lower pelvis. The latter is great for back pain, (skip the chiropractor altogether!), which I occasionally have, but doesn't do anything for hip pain. I've endured long flights, where my pain leaves me nauseated and shaking. The ONLY way, at 57 yo I can take a long plane or car trip, (which is at least 3-4 times a year), requires prescribed opiate pain killers, causing other unpleasant side effects. My father saw the cushion in an H.S. catalog, and I jumped to order one. It arrived promptly in two or three days, (though I don't really remember), except that I love, love, love it!!!I can actually play piano for three to four hours without bottoming out (I'm 5'6" and 128 lbs.), and that's with only the TDPR cushion--no extra layers. Further, it doesn't slide around, but stays in place perfectly wherever I'm sitting. For the first time in 12 years, I'm pain free, and will probably take it with me on my next trip to CA. And in fact, I may have to buy a second one. It's unbelieveably well made, with a removeable, washable cover,(as a seamstress, I've filled over 24,000 orders and considered #1, nationwide, for the product I sew). I like too, that it's black, so it's not an eyesore on my ebony piano bench...and now I'm no longer rearend sore. When I have orders to fill, I move it into my sewing room and use it atop my expensive, support, unholstered office chair. Works like a dream. If you have any lowever hip pain, at around [$], this is the best product around. Don't even hesitate. Just go order it.

The bottom cushion of my office desk chair after many years of service has lost its cushioning function. I bought the "truck driving cushion" to place in my chair. The front to back dimension is too short for the chair. There is an inordant amount of pressure around the edges of the cushion. After about thriry minutes of sitting on the cushion I do not feel any better than I would have without it. If you drive a truck is may be the "be the best thing since sliced bread but to salvage a desk chair seat it probably is not the best choice for me. It may be great for other people so don't let me discourage you from tying it. I have not had the opertunitiy to try in the car seat on a long trip yet.

Excellent quality
Big certainly didn't mean the biggest!

It does reshape itself after long periods of sitting but an optional XL size (an additional 2ins wider)would be a better sit for the robust, larger sitters whether in a truck or in a wheelchair!

This cushion has saved my lower back!
By Lynn the Gramma
from Dallas, TX
I sit all day at my job. I have fractured my lower back in the past and I suffer if I have to sit too long. This cushion does not put more pressure on my spine like the other orthopedic cushions I have tried. I originally bought this for my husband but tried it first and kept it for myself! I bought a second cushion for him to use in his truck and it helps his back pain too. If sitting causes you pain- buy this!

Did not work for me in the home
By Ron

This item would work great for truck drivers who sit in one place for long periods, but it did not work in the home, for which I had intended.
Very high quality product.

Solved my problems with wooden restaurant chairs and soreness from long distance driving. Very high quality and much better than a foam pad. Someone was thinking when they made this product.

trail & error--one size doesn't fit all

used in office chair, well made product, but did not help my situation
Way too small
By Big Bob
The 17 1/2 by 14 inch dimensions are way too small for a large person (which I am). I find it extremely uncomfortable. My wife, who has a smaller "footprint," seems to like it as an accessory to her computer chair.
Love This Cushion
By Chronicpainelder

I've tried lots of seating cushions for the car and for chairs at home. I needed one that I could use while resting/sitting in bed. This larager pad really helps eliminate coccyx and hip soreness for my severe arthritis. I am pain free for a much longer time using this pad. Worth the price! Dont buy cheaper if you have longterm/chronic conditions - it only exacerbates problems. I will buy the smaller one for chairs and travel. I suggest making a small back pad version. Most back supports are too large, too firm, and/or too bulky.
