This is the only device that restores a cassette tape's audio quality before converting it to audio CD format. Made by TEAC, the company that pioneered magnetic tape recording in the 1950's, it is the only stand-alone device that uses a patented Dolby noise reduction process to remove annoying distractions, such as tape hiss, so voices and music are heard clearly as if captured on an open-reel recorder. Its tape speed control overcomes the warped playback of cassettes that routinely suffer from "tape stretch" over a lifespan of forward and reverse, reproducing the original pitch of a recording. It can also convert content to CDs from any audio device plugged into its USB or auxiliary ports, and convert content into MP3s for direct storage onto any USB storage device. With headphone jack and remote. Plugs into AC. 18" W x 6" H x 12" D. (7 lbs.)

Works as Avertised

The Teac cassette to CD converter is a pleasure to use right out of the box. There is virtually no setup required. A quick read of the manual allowed me to begin converting immediatly. The sound improvement provided by the Dolby NR system was an added benefiet. The cassettes were recorded in 1975 and once on CD sound preaty good for thirty-seven years old. I would mention you need to use music / audio CD's for system to transfer.

The user manual is not very clear. I am very much into electronic equip and I could figure out what was required. I even guessed, correctly, some of the functions. A novice would not be able to operate it. Also, it would be more useful if it had some other functions (I will list them for you if you are interested). Otherwise, it does the job it was designed to do and I am very satisfied with it.

Not the easiest to use
By bud the cat
from maryville, il
The device itself is just what my husband needed to convert his old tapes to cd. However, the book that came with the product was very confusing and cost us a lot of unnecessary time. We had to go to 4 different sources to try and find the correct cd to record onto. Then we found we could only find them online. The device itself was fairly simple to configure after we worked with it for a couple of days.

This machine was perfect for duplicating our family histories that were recorded on cassettes.Even though it is an expensive machine it has been totally worth it to us. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
