This is Roomba, the robotic vacuum that autonomously navigates through multiple rooms to clean hard floors and carpets. Two virtual wall lighthouses project infrared beams that confine the vacuum to one room until it has cleaned the entire surface and then allow it to pass to an adjacent room. Sensors redirect the unit when it encounters furniture, walls, or stairs, and its anti-tangle technology reverses the rotation of the brushes when it encounters rug fringe. The unit's specially designed dual, counter-rotating agitator brushes spread carpet fibers and enable the vacuum to remove hair and other detritus from low- and high-pile carpets. Roomba can be scheduled to navigate autonomously through your home up to seven times per week or the remote control allows you to send the vacuum on an impromptu spot cleaning-a feature unique to the Hammacher Schlemmer model. It cleans up to four rooms per charge and automatically returns to its drive-on charger when its battery runs low. Includes one replacement filter and two replacement brushes. Remote control requires two AA batteries and lighthouses require two C batteries. 2 1/2" H x 13" Diam. (11 3/4 lbs.)

Works well, not good for dust allergies

This is my second Roomba. It works well on flat surfaces, not so great on thicker carpet. If you have an allergy to dust, this is not for you. The bin and filters have to be cleaned after each use and there's dust on most surfaces. The vacuum intake valve is harder to reach. This Roomba did not notify me when it snagged a yarn ball into it's spinning wheel. Luckily I checked on it and stopped it before it caused too much harm to itself or the yarn. Also, it seems to run fine without it's front caster wheel (which I removed to clean and either dropped in the trash by accident, or the Roomba has thrown it off in some corner somewhere). I like Roombas. I buy from Hammacher Schlemmer because of it's lifetime warranty. I did not buy my first Roomba from them - I should have.

To keep up with mud tracked in.Good buy with warrenty; since the one we had from 5 years ago had to have the batteries and such replaced and still didn't recover; after a couple of years of use.I am hoping the current version lasts longer.

This is so much better than breaking my back with my other hi-end vacuum! It even went into the bathroom and cleaned the individual rugs and tile section without trying to eat the rugs (like a regular vacuum does). I hope it lasts into my retirement. This is a great gift for someone who is retiring. Its the only vacuum cleaner they would need!

I bought the first romba and now my wife can not be without one.We have owned one for 6 years now.(Different models) The scheduler is truly amazing,also get the model with the lighthouse What can you lose if you don't like it return it.However I don't believe you will.The new models are a nice improvement over the earlier models.Now if they could just get it to clean out it's own dust been.

I will always own a Roomba! I have 3 dogs and a cat. 2 of which are labadors and they shed like crazy! The cat is a long haired orange cat. He leaves just as much! We purchased "Hairy" as we call him several years ago! We have upgrated about every two years and we just love it. Hairy goes under couches,dining sets, chairs just to name a few. He gets all the "hair tumble weeds" without a problem. I will always have a Hairy in my house. It only takes about 2 minutes to change his brushes and dump out the bin. We discovered you can really clean them in the dishwasher! Easy easy easy! It's also a great conversation piece. 5 Stars from us!

I love this roomba. It is a newer version than my previous vacuum. It self-docks and charges and is easily programmable. My only complaint is that it is too loud to run when we are sleeping. It can clean half my home (one entire floor) on a single charge. It saves me the time and effort of sweeping and all I have to do to prepare is make sure the dog toys are off the floor.

I love that I can leave my house and come back and have vacuumed floors!! The thing I don't love is that I have 3 dogs and the dirt canister and brushes need to be cleaned/emptied constantly. Sometimes I get a error message before the floor is done because the rollers are full of hair or canister is full. I probably would have bought the one specifically for pet hair if it wasn't for the high price.

I love Roomba!

I bought the Roomba 564 model designed for cat hair. I pen Roomba into a single room with the 2 "lighthouses" that it comes with plus chairs. I turn it on and let it do its thing. We have two short hair cats and Roomba does a beautiful job, especially on our carpets (all low-nap). Roomba has trouble cleaning only one of my rooms--a ceramic tile kitchen floor. I think the dark grout lines between the tiles interfere with its ability to see dirt. It's not real loud. I clean the brushes after Roomba cleans a carpeted room or a couple of hard floor rooms. Cleaning takes about 10 minutes while I watch TV. I've used Roomba a couple of times a week on a 2,000 square foot house. I didn't change the filter like I was supposed to. And that may have contributed to my first problem after 11 months of use. Something broke near the brushes. I called the manufacturer. The lady who answered the phone listened to the sound of Roomba over the phone and was able to diagnose the problem immediately. She sent out a new part, free of charge (per the lifetime guarantee), that I received within the week. I just installed it, following clear directions that came with the part. Now Roomba is all better and is cleaning my downstairs carpet as I write. I promise to change the filter on time. I love Roomba!
