Made from Eastern Canadian Larch (Larix larcina), this is the end grain cutting board that naturally mends knife cuts. Unlike cutting boards made from the face or edge grain, the end grain wood fibers spread as the knife blade contacts the surface and close when the knife is removed, reducing surface scratches and deep cuts. The end grain wood fibers are gentler on knife edges and the dense grain structure helps eliminate places for bacteria to hide, enabling use with raw meat or fish. A dense, rot resistant wood used for centuries in shipbuilding, the Eastern Canadian Larch is kiln dried and hand selected and matched by artisans who handcraft the cutting boards in a 30-step process.
