This is a top notch product!!
from Jacksonville, Florida
OK, here we go. Hey baby boomers, if you can access the slides taken by your father (Or mother) from the past, then you HAVE TO have this wonderful product. Want to see the parents looked back in the 60's? Or your friends, neighbors, etc? Want to relive that vacation you took with the parents to the Smokey Mountains? Well, with this great product, you can. You can copy a slide and then transfer to your computer. Now the real beauty of this slide converter is that once you implement to your system, it interfaces with your pre-existing softward. Then you access the software to touch up the photo. The photos look like they were recently taken. With this product, you are bridging over 50 years of technology. I love my slide converter, and trust me, and I guarantee this, you will too. The product is easy to use, you just load the slides into a frame and then run them through the unit. You do not even have to be connected to your computer to begin the process. Once you complete the process of impementing the slides to the unit, you then attach to your computer, via USB, and then push a button. That is it. Your photos snapped of the slides through the unit are then transformed to your computer's photo software. This item is a "must have." It also works on negatives. Ken Malkin

Nice for the Price
By USMC Vet.
from Chester County, PA
For the price I am very pleased with the performance and results obtained in copying my very old 35 mm slides and 110 negatives. The software included is very easy to set up and use, and copying takes just seconds to complete. Some of my older slides with thin borders were cropped too much by the borders of plastic frame they are loaded into, but I found that on these I could gently push the slide through the copier one at a time without using the frame and thus copy the entire image without any cropping effect. All of the adjustment controls for light and dark images were very easy to navigate through. I have copied a few hundred images and have no complaints yet. With the unconditional lifetime warranty offered by Hammacher Schlemmer I don't worry about any issues developing in the future.

Really wonderful converter
from Minneapolis, MN
I have a few thousand slides and negatives to scan. This was such a cost effective and simple way to do it. I'm more pleased than I even expected to be since it's very simple to use. I love that you can view each picture before deciding to scan it or not. I have been getting through them pretty quickly and I really have nothing negative to say about it.
Brought my family history alive!
By Accordion Jim
from Bakersfield, CA
Began using the slide converter out of the box. Before my first session was over I had converted over 500 slides. This has been a great way to quickly convert 35mm slides to digital jpegs tat I have immediately shared with my family via social media. Wish I had this years ago!!

Not bad....fairly simple to use
By Gramma Jan
from Atlanta, GA
Not bad if you just want to preserve old photos but quality is so-so. Probably not high enough resolution for good enlargements but works great for tribute slideshows and sharing memories with family.Sometimes the copies turned green for no apparent reason, even when others on the same strip were okay. For some of those, I chose B/W instead of color. Make sure you know your film speed and have the right trays. I have a bunch of negatives that won't fit the holders. You have to change holders every 4 slides or so. Take your time and once you get the system down it goes pretty quickly.

Better than I expected
By Boreal Shepherdess
from North Pole, Alaska
I had most of my older pictures water damaged, and hoped to reclaim them from the negatives. After receiving this product in the mail, I pulled out my old negatives and was disappointed to find that some of them were water damaged as well, though not too badly. I was quite surprised to find that on a lot of negatives where I could see visible water lines on the negative, there was no visible effect on the resulting digital photo! I am very pleased. It was also very user-friendly.

This is the only machine I have seen that can transfer my slides to my computer. Some of my slides are over 50 years old, but we rarely have looked at them because of all the hassle of setting up the slide projector. and then waiting until it was dark enough to show them (which is almost midnight in the summer here in Montana). This is very easy to use, does a GREAT job of taking the pictures, and then has several neat features to help edit them. I would really recommend this to anyone who wants to transfer slides.

Bringing back memories
from Yucaipa, California
I have so many different sizes of negatives and this gives me the opportunity to look at, save and print the ones I want. Some are over 50 years old. This is the best purchase I have made that was worth the money.

Fun To Use
from Ellenwood, GA
I'm mainly using it to convert old slides to JPEg. The instructions were confusing at first; but after reading them again, I was able to put the unit together and began adding slides. It required the use of an SD card which was not included in the package. Luckily, I had one. I think you should include everything the unit needs to function in the package.

Superior Slide and Negative Converter
By old time photographer
from baltimore md
The main issue with this product is the apparent cheapness of its construction. It could be truly "superior" by using a heavier and more durable plastic. The viewing window needs to be larger and on top as a flip-up window. Also, it needs more intuitive usage buttons on top, with the icons in white for better visibility.A smoother tracking for the trays would also help. On the other hand, the quality of the digitizing is better than I had heard.
