This is the classic trapper hat made from genuine shearling. Cut and crafted by a fifth-generation family firm in Somerset, England, a county known for woolen apparel since the Middle Ages, the hat has the traditional upturned brow, low back, and generous side flaps that cover the entire jaw. The soft woolen interior snuggles the face, while the shearling's hollow fibers trap heat and wick away moisture, providing the optimal temperature whether battling the weather on the way to the trap line or subway line. For additional wind protection, the flaps can be secured under the chin with leather laces. Separate flaps can be lowered to provide a second fur-lined covering for the ears, or raised to expose small eyelets that offer ventilation and aid hearing. The hat's durable leather exterior is finished with reinforced welt seams that are impermeable to sleet, snow, and rain. Tan. (10 oz.)
How To Determine Your Hat Size
To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.
How to Measure Your Head
- Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
- Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
- Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
