Very Happy with Purchase
By PA in FL
from Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Comments:
This is my first time trying to transfer VHS tapes to DVD and am doing it for my job as a Personal Assistant with all of my Boss's old tapes. I'm very tech savvy so for me, after reading the easy instructions a couple times I'm able to do it without them now. The DVD's come out looking exactly how the VHS does so keep in mind that if your VHS has static or problems they will transfer to the DVD, other than that, very happy with the purchase.

Great product for converting VHS to DVD
By Lizann
from Philadelphia
I used this to convert my VHS home movies to DVD. Was simple to use once I looked in the direction booklet under "dubbing" (not recording). Also does a good job of playing VHS taped and DVD's. Have not tried to record a program to a DVD but the directions seem simple. Make sure you finalize the disc after you record or you cannot view it on other machines.

bad instruction book
By not too swift
from Falls Church VA
It took me a while to figure out how to "finalize" the recorded DVD so it could be replayed in another unit other than the original unit. The manual says that if the recording is not "finalized" it would nor play back in other than the original unit, but it did not explain that after recording, one has to go to "setup" and select "finalize".

The User Manual is very hard to understand if you are not an electrical engineer or something similar. I can dub a VCR to a DVD but have not yet been able to figure out how to copy my VHS C tapes on to one DVD. The user guide is not helpful!THE USER GUIDE IS NOT HELPFUL!!!!

Great Product

I was so excited to receive this converter that I didn't even realize it was also a player. I have numerous home videos from my childhood that I am converting and have had no problems so far. The setup was slightly tedious because I am not tech savvy when it comes to tv's. Once setup though, it was relatively easy to use. I am very happy with the results. I am so happy I purchased this product. I now have all my memories safe on DVD!
Cool Product

I needed to replace my old VHS to DVD recorder. This was a good option; and not that expensive in comparison to other products. Setup was typical of connecting to a satellite box and TV. Manual could really use a rewrite. Confusing on some topics. The biggest downside to this (and I think it happens on other products like this as well) if you want to use an HDMI cable for the quality - it won't work with scrambled channels. You have to go with standard component cabling so you lose quality on your recordings. Very disappointing that something I pay for can't be recorded. This isn't really the products fault but I think it needs to be clearly stated - it is in the manual but I had to dig for that tidbit of information. Otherwise, this is a good product and it serves a real purpose for me.
overall excellent

Initially a few setbacks with setup. Use the rear A/V inputs on your TV. Otherwise setup can be difficult. Once you have it figured out, and it takes a few trials, it works like a dream. Highly recommend.

Product is great to both play old VHS tapes and upload them to CD for better storage and sharing.
