Unlike lesser telephones with hard-to-read caller ID displays, these have a large display and an audible feature that announces the names of each caller. The cordless handset has an amplified earpiece that boosts high-frequency sounds up to 30 dB, enhancing clarity, while flashing LEDs visually alert users to incoming calls and new voice messages. The oversized buttons are backlit, and a large LCD with numbers 1 1/2 times larger than standard telephones clearly shows the name and number of incoming calls (base and headset). The base and telephone each have a 200-number memory that can store frequently dialed numbers or emergency contacts at the touch of a button. In the event of power failure, the corded telephone base will retain emergency and speed dialing functions, while allowing incoming and outgoing calls. Operates on the 1.9 GHz DECT band that avoids the crowded 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequencies used by other cordless telephones, resulting in interference-free calls. Compatible with all inductive coupled hearing aids. Caller ID and voicemail require subscription with telephone company. Includes corded and cordless telephones. Supports up to 12 cordless handsets, available below. Corded telephone base: 5" H x 7" W x 8 1/3" D. (2 1/2 lbs.) Cordless telephone: 9 1/2" H x 3 1/4" W x 4 1/3" D. (1 lb.)

Good product for diminishing vision
By Suzy-Q

Comments:
I looked for a phone that would be easy for me to use because of poor eye sight. I like the larger numbers and the lighted background for numbers.

Beware-Talking Caller ID
By Eagle Eye
from Gator Country
As a blind person I purchased this phone because it advertised "Talking Caller ID". However, when you receive a call from a cell phone, which is often, the phone simply announces "cell phone" and the state the cell phone is registered in. The phone doesn't annouce the telephone number or the name of the caller unless the incoming call is from an unblocked landline.

Realized expectations
By N8Dawg
from San Mateo, CA
(2)Key features (for me) were not mentioned in the product's description, but I decided to give it shot anyway based upon H&S's reputation. My expectations for wall-mountability and the capability to turn off/on the caller announce feature were both realized leaving me totally satisfied with my purchase.

EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
By Starr
from Kelowna, B.C.
I'm hard of hearing and have vision problems as well. This telephone has made it possible for me to dial numbers easily, and to hear callers clearly...even without my hearing aids. The auxiliary handheld unit works almost as well for me and I no longer have to worry about missing calls when I'm in a remote part of the house. It also gives me a sense of security knowing it's easy to call for help in the event of an emergency.
