I bought this with the intention of using it on planes and when mowing the lawn. I like the fit of the earpieces. They help muffle engine noise even when the noise canceling feature is not on. The noise canceling feature is quite effective. It would be an improvement if it shut off automatically when the iPod is turned off. I've forgotten to turn it off and burned up a few sets of batteries. I've also had an intermittent problem with the in line control failing to operate.

works the same as earbuds

I have several ear buds that have this noise reduction capability. I expected more from Boss, because of the over the entire ear cups (not to mention the price). These headphones work about the same as the ear buds on the noise reduction.
