Product Story

This is the ball cap that is hand-tailored from genuine Irish tweed amid the cliffs and loughs of County Donegal. Exclusively available from Hammacher Schlemmer, the hat combines the color-flecked tweed that is the signature pattern of this region in northwestern Ireland with the classic sun-shielding design of an American baseball cap. A warm barrier against coastal winds and naturally water-repellant against seaside spray, the cap is woven from pure new wool shorn from indigenous Galway sheep and hand-crafted by a traditional bespoke tailoring firm founded in 1924. The six-panel cap has the customary button on the top, soft polyester lining, and a hook-and-loop adjuster for a comfortable fit. Dry clean only. 13" L x 9" W x 9" D. (6 1/2 oz.)

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
