Product Story

These are the gentleman’s leather slippers handmade in Glastonbury, England, by the same family-owned company since 1937. Residing within the heart of England’s sheepskin industry during the Middle Ages, Glastonbury was a center for the country’s wool trade—its first tannery was established in 1451. Drawing upon the area’s rich leatherworking heritage for the past 75 years, the makers hand-last these slippers from the finest, softest calf leather for the uppers. These slippers are stitched, glued, and tamped by hand as has been done for generations, taking up to four weeks to produce by hand. This attention to quality compelled England's 1940s wartime government to seek this manufacturer for protective leather wear. Lined with supple sheepskin, the slippers have foam-cushioned insoles covered in luxurious suede for optimal comfort. The hard-wearing suede soles provide lasting durability and flexibility. Men’s whole sizes. Black. (1 lb.)
