First issued to the U.S. Army aviators in 1931 and worn by flight crews throughout World War II, the A-2 flight jacket was reissued by the U.S. Air Force in 1987. Made exclusively for Hammacher Schlemmer by Cockpit USA, the current supplier of leather jackets to the Air Force, this updated classic version has a rugged outer shell of lambskin. The hefty jacket is cut for a generous fit and its poly-fiber fill provides cold-season comfort with a snap-down collar, epaulets, zip-up front with wind flap, two front cargo pockets (top and side entry), and knit 80% acrylic/20% polyester cuffs and waistband. It also has a hidden pen pocket under the left pocket flap and two inside chest pockets. The 100% polyester lining is printed with a pilot’s escape map of England and occupied Europe. Underarm grommets provide ventilation. Imported. Men’s sizes S (36), M (38-40), L (42), XL (44-46), or XXL (48-50). (6 lbs.)
The Army Air Corps Leather Flight Jacket comes with The Hammacher Schlemmer Lifetime Guarantee. If this product ever disappoints you, for any reason, you may return your Hammacher Schlemmer purchase for exchange, credit, or refund.

This jacket was all I was looking for in terms of weather resistance and warmth. the combination of zipper and wind flap was hard to find at other sites. The number and placement of pockets is perfect. The map on the lining was an added bonus. The majority of the jacket was an excellent fit, but the upper arms are a little snug. I am hoping the sleeves stretch a little with wearing.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Having been born in 1934 I was too young for World War 11 but was highly influenced by it.So when I saw this jacket after searching numerous websites and trying out 4 or 5 different mfgs. I ordered one and have been overjoyed at finding the perfect leather jacket. Everything about it suits my needs perfectly and was several hundred dollars cheaper than other jackets. With the escape map lining I have been able to give my children and grandchildren a valuable history lesson

Slipping this on is slipping into a piece of living history. A faithful reproduction of the jacket that saw service in the skies over Normandy, Berlin, and Tokyo during the dark days of WWII. Worn by immortals of the air such as Lindbergh, Earhart, and Doolittle; and by American fighter pilots and bomber crews from the period before Pearl Harbor until after the Korean Conflict. Constructed of the same high quality materials and with the same careful craftsmanship as the original, with no detail overlooked or ommitted. I look forward to years of satisfactory service from this fine piece of outerwear.
Nice multi use jacket

More like a evening or casual dress jacket than a true rugged " bomber " style . Could be worn in many occasions but probable not for work wear . Great quality , very supple ,a little shiny and comfortable.

About Me Classic Dresser
My husband loved this jacket! It fit perfectly and he's worn it a few times already. As a WW2 history buff, he got a kick out of the map in the lining. Well done!
Beautiful jacket, soft leather, darker than picture.
