This is the low-impact exercise machine that provides a complete cardio workout from the comfort of a favorite chair. Available exclusively from Hammacher Schlemmer, the pedaler combines a bike-simulating workout for the legs with an upper-body ergometer, letting users maintain overall cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone without strain on weight-bearing joints. This pedaler also tones hamstrings, quadriceps, biceps, and triceps with an optimal level of exertion. The pedals and arm crank can be cycled in reverse to work muscle groups with variations not possible with forward-only motion. The tubular steel frame has separate resistance controls for the foot pedals and hand cranks and a quick-release reach adjustment. The compact design allows this pedaler to sit within reach of a chair in an office or bedroom. 38 1/2" H x 17" W x 17" D. (13 lbs.)

Compact and Versatile
from Tampa, FL
Having sustained a severe injury that makes it very difficult to walk or raise my left arm, this device addresses both strengthening my lower extremities as well as my upper extremities. It is also a wonderful piece of equipment for cardiovascular fitness without having to get on a treadmill or extend my upper arms. If one pedals vigorusly, the front support slides a bit on my hardwood floor. As a Physician, I believe that I have a better perspective to evaluate the health aspects of this item. Lastly, it is compact, easily stored and an incredible bargain...let's not forget HS's lifetime warranty!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I ordered this machine for my wife, who has MS and limited mobility. We were very pleasantly surprised at how sturdy and well made it is. It is adjustable enough that she can use it from her wheelchair. And as a bonus, I have found that I, too, can exercise with it while watching TV.

not big enough
The adjustment brake does not hold well. My use has been troubled by the fact my knees hit my hands because the space between the hand and foot pedals is not large enough for me. My long legs are the problem more so than anything wrong with the piece. As said above, better suited to Medium to Small size users.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is my "companion" wherever I sit: can use leg-only, arm-only or both and it is quiet so does not interfere with conversations or television. Am so pleased to have discovered this space-saving, non-electric, non-noisy way to keep my joints in motion.

I'm in a wheelchair. I can get under this machine and use the arm holds. It's light, handy, and solid. Very good setup

I think the pedaler will be very good for me and allows me to exercise easily. However, both leg and arm tension adjustments do not screw down enough for the pedaling to get much harder and the curved adjustment bar gradually slides up no matter where I put it.

tension not very strong
from clearwater, fl
Use for indoor muscle tone. Florida summers are warm for exercising outside. It doesn't take up much room.We can't seem to get the tension as tight as we would like.

Pretty Good Workout
from Durham, NC
I had to have a neighbor put this together for me. The diagrams were not that user-friendly and the allen wrench was a joke and soon lost it's indentation. My neighbor had to use a professonal one to get all of the screws in tightly. One small part didn't fit in the handle bar section and he had to use different tools to flatten it to work. The fact that the directions say to tighten the screws before each use really had me puzzled. Would the screws really loosen and would that create a risk while I'm on it! The last thing I want to do is to spend time before getting on this cycle to tighten the many screws involved.
