This is the leather bomber meticulously reproduced with all of the details of the jacket worn by Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the iconic movie Top Gun. Made by Cockpit USA, the current supplier of leather jackets to the Air Force, the jacket has all 17 patches found on the original, including those honoring the USS William H. Standley, the USS Galveston CLG 3, and other destroyers for their support during naval aviation strikes. It is made from vegetable tanned goatskin that is hand-cut, sewn, and gently aged to create subtle creases and a warm patina that evokes a classic, battle-tested jacket. The jacket has the iconic mouton collar and small details such as the Navy anchor pin on one of the front pockets and the wool and nylon cuffs and waistband that were hallmarks of Maverick’s coat.
