This is the remote-controlled indoor helicopter that displays personalized messages across its blades while it flies. Before takeoff, simply connect the copter to a computer and input up to nine messages of 18 characters each. Once the sky-writer is airborne, the text is shown in red LEDs that whirl around near the blades, instructing viewers to “keep out of my room” or fetch snacks from the kitchen. The helicopter has a sturdy metal body and an integrated gyroscope and coaxial rotors for stability. Pilots steer the chopper from the ground using an infrared remote that enables deft speed and directional control from up to 40' away. The helicopter's battery provides 12-minute flights and recharges in only 30 minutes from the transmitter (requires four AA batteries); also charges via USB.
