Used by NASA to help astronauts sleep in space, this is the light bulb that encourages production of melatonin—the hormone that promotes sleep. Unlike typical light bulbs that emit high levels of short wavelength “blue” light that suppresses melatonin, the NASA light bulb’s patented filter reduces blue light by 50% to facilitate a better night’s sleep. Ideal for use in a nightstand lamp for 30 minutes before you fall asleep, the light bulb helps maintain your body’s natural circadian rhythm so you fall asleep faster and wake up more refreshed. The 12-watt LED produces the same light as a 60-watt incandescent for optimal illumination while reading yet lasts up to 16X longer. 4 1/2" H x 2 1/2" W. (5 oz.)

NASA Sleep Promoting Light Bulb
By Felix Lehrer
from Vancouver B.C. CANADAI
I cannot say much about this yet, in terms of long life and so on,as I have only had it a couple of weeks. But I read by it for 30 minutes before lights out and I both sleep quite well AND what is more and did not use to be the case get to sleep fairly quickly after getting up to pee. I am 82 years old so the latter problem is par for the course.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This bulb has significantly reduced the need for oral sleep aids. We are very pleased with its effectiveness.

Seems to work as advertised!

I don't pretent to understand why it works, but it does. Using this for 20-30 minutes before bed has helped me to get a better night's sleep. It has a nice soft tone to it - not too white - and is bright enough to read by.LED is super long lasting and energy efficient, so those are nice benefits too.

Sleep promoting light bulb
from Cobble Hill, British Columbia.
We have only had this bulb three days so it's a little early to tell yet. I purchased it for my wife who has been having trouble sleeping. However,I have noticed she has slept longer the last three days, so hopefully it is the bulb. Excellent light, by the way.BTW, we have only LED and Halogen lights in our house.
Possible but inconclive Impact

For those who suffer from sleep problems, nothing is unreasonable to try. The night I ordered this bulb, I slept better! Once it arrived, I found consistent results - feeling ready for sleep within 30 minutes of opening my bedside book vs an hour or two normally. I have no absolute proof the two are related but conversely have no proof that it does not. Conclusion - let us trust NASA on this one.

Seems to work as advertised

I ordered these bulbs for the purpose of helping me fall asleep at night. The first thing I noticed was that the color warmth of the lighting made our bedroom more inviting, more relaxing. I found that reading seemed easier with these bulbs. And ... I started nodding off after a few pages rather than a few chapters. I am still finding that I nod off more quickly than in the past and the quality of my sleep seems to have gotten better. This could be due to the bulbs or it could be a placebo effect because I "did" something. I don't care; I love the quick nod-off and the better sleep.

THIS REALLY WORKS!!
By M the sleeper

I used to sleep well most nights without any sleep aid at all. But for the past year I've been waking up after 4 or 5 hours and never getting back to sleep. However, since I began using this bulb 10 days ago as a reading light for 30 minutes before bedtime, I am sleeping like a baby again. I am delighted that my husband bought it for me, and I have at least one friend who wants to order one right away!
