This is the electric skateboard that is controlled by a smartphone. A free app allows riders to accelerate, slow down, and stop simply by sliding their finger across the screen. A 400-watt brushless electric motor propels the skateboard up to 12 1/2 mph and provides ample power for scaling 10% inclines. The skateboard has a regenerative braking system—similar to the systems used in hybrid cars—that recycles power to recharge the battery incrementally when braking. The app also displays the current speed, the battery status of the board, and can illuminate the smartphone’s flashlight when riding at dusk. The skateboard travels up to 18 miles or three hours after a five-hour charge via the included AC adapter. The deck is made from Canadian maple, the 2" wheels are made from polyurethane, and the trucks have chromoly steel axles. Supports up to 220 lbs. For ages 14 and older.
