By monitoring body fat (rather than just weight), people learn more about their weight profile, which can help achieve good results when dieting, exercising, and counting calories. We enlisted a panel of customers, added our own expertise in compiling data, and consulted with the University of Illinois Chicago Human Performance Laboratory Hydrostatic Scale measurement team to undertake one of the most thorough tests of body fat monitors. Results showed this monitor accurate to within 2 1/2% of the hydrostatic scale reading (being weighed on a hanging scale underwater), the highest accuracy of all the body fat monitors we tested. To take a reading, the body fat monitor produces a harmless bioelectric current (the same natural current in the human body) through the footpads, which then travels at different speeds through lean and fat body mass. The monitor measures the degree of speed impediment and composes a body fat profile. The large LCD provides a clear readout of weight and body fat percentage in numbers 11/2 tall for easy reading. Internal memory stores up to 10 user profiles. Display measures in pounds, kilograms, or stones (selectable at the touch of a button) up to 330 lbs. capacity. Not for use by those with pacemakers.
