The Best Wooden Pet Gate. After rigorous testing by the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute, this pressure mounted pet gate was rated best for its sturdiness, pet restriction ability, and ease of use. The pet gate is made from fine hardwood with superior metal components and scored the highest for sturdiness because it remained stable when an 80-lb. dumbbell was hung from the top of the gate, while lesser gates could only support 30 to 50 lbs.
