This audio-video recording system has a DVD player/recorder, VCR, and DVR that allows the easiest method for transferring your home video memories from delicate video tape to durable, long-lasting DVD format. The recorder can also record from DVD to VHS for sending home movies to friends or relatives who have a VCR but no DVD player. Transferring is as simple as inserting a VHS tape and a blank DVD into the unit, which supports multi-format recording, and the 80 gb hard drive uses a timeslip feature that allows you to watch and record a television program simultaneously, storing it for later viewing or transfer to either DVD or VHS. In addition to playing audio CDs, the system displays a TV program listing for easy recording selection, and
it can control DirectTV satellite receivers and most cable TV boxes. It can also accept connections from most camcorders, and connects easily to high-definition televisions. Unlike other DVD players that can only detect images at the scan line level, this system uses separate algorithims to process still and moving pixels, resulting in sharper backgrounds. The video transfer process employs a virtual multi-encode system that ensures LP mode recording at 500 lines of horizontal resolution for a picture up to twice as sharp as other recorders whose LP mode recordings only offer 250 lines.
