The phone system operates on the 5.8 GHz band and uses frequency-hopping technology for better voice security and reception, unlike older 900MHz systems that are vulnerable to eavesdropping and interference from other wireless devices. The wall-mountable digital answering machine/charging base has a speakerphone that provides loud and clear across-the-room voice quality and supports teleconferencing when using up to three additional handsets (sold below). The answering machine base has a paging function to find misplaced handsets, and provides up to 15 minutes of messages, allows you to speed up or slow down messages during playback, screens calls using a large easy-to-read LCD for
caller identification (requires subscription), and allows you to call your phone to access your messages while away from home. The handset also has a built-in speakerphone and stores up to 50 names and numbers, screens calls, can redial up to five numbers, times calls, and supports a standard 2.5mm headset. Handset battery provides eight hours of talk time before needing to be set in the base for recharging.
