The Talking Educational Globe. Updated for 2008, this is the world's most informative and interactive globe because its 64MB memory stores over 30 games and learning activities that are narrated through a built-in speaker, and it can be updated from the Internet. Users access the globe's information in "challenge" or "teach" modes--featuring geography, history, cultures and languages--by touching the globe or a detailed pullout map of the U.S. with a wireless "SmartPen." Up to four players can race against the clock to locate countries, capitals and cities. The globe also allows geographers of all ages to compare world currencies or travel distances, and to play each country's national anthem. Updates can be easily downloaded from the SmartGlobe website to a PC (Windows Vista/XP) and transferred to the globe in English or six other languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese).
