This is the 1/8-scale replica of the 1961 Yankee Stadium, meticulously researched, hand-built, and hand-painted by artist Steve Wolf, whose stadium models are on display in the Los Angeles Sports Museum. Requiring nearly 3,000 hours to complete, the 49' sq. model stadium is designed using original blueprints and period photographs so that every 1/8" of the model is equivalent to 1' of the actual Yankee Stadium. Its 10,000 individual parts are handmade or laser-cut from wood, polycarbon plastic, brass, or aluminum. Each part is painstakingly pieced together to flawlessly recreate every detail-from the stadium's majestic triple deck grandstand and Art Deco frieze (with the classic green patina) to the monuments of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Miller Huggins in center field. Six working light banks, each with up to 250 LED bulbs, cast a bright white light onto the airbrushed field and 64,000 seats. The stadium walls and illuminated scoreboard are lined with period advertisements like Yoo-Hoo and Ballantine Beer & Ale. The field dimensions faithfully replicate the home run boundaries that faced Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle during their epic race to break "The Babe's" home run record in 1961, complete with the short, 295' porch in right field and the nearly unapproachable 466' centerfield wall.
