Product Story

This is Rounders, the bat and ball game played in England since the 1700s that was the forerunner to American baseball. Though the two games share many similarities, such as innings and bases, in Rounders the pitcher or "bowler" delivers a ball underhanded that a batter strikes with a much smaller bat held in one hand. Also, the bases are tall sticks (included, not shown) rather than square bags, and players field with their bare hands. As in baseball, a runner who touches home base scores a run, or rounder. Though there may be no more than nine fielders, any number may bat, allowing greater participation. Includes four 18" ash bats with rubber grips, two leather Rounders balls, two rubber mats that mark the position of the bowler and current batter, four 48" H plastic posts, a nylon storage/travel bag, and rules. Made in India. 49" L x 9" W x 4 1/2" D. (25 lbs.)
