Product Story

Made in Ireland from the same waterproof and wind-resistant material worn by Celtic fisherman since the 19th century, this is the genuine wax cotton cap. The cap's shell is made of densely woven 100% cotton fibers impregnated with paraffin wax, creating a weatherproof barrier that provides reliable protection from rain or snow in the Irish highlands or on Dublin streets. Unlike synthetic waterproof fabrics, wax cotton breathes to allow air circulation and its durability far surpasses that of waterproof textiles coated with PVC or polyurethane. The plaid lining is made of a soft, smooth polyester and cotton blend. A button snap secures the bill to the top of the cap. Hand wash only. (4 oz.)

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
