By either speaking the command or hitting the button on the remote control, human drivers direct the sleek car in all the maneuvers needed for a high-speed chase, including whizzing forward and backward, turning right and left, and even drifting around a bend. Then, at the command and with a flash of its headlights, the car’s passenger doors become arms and its frame becomes the imposing torso of a menacing robot.
