This is the classic wine opener made in France using wood from historic tulip trees that once graced the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Sourced from trees naturally uprooted during a powerful storm in 1999, the wine opener's handle is handcrafted from the same tulip trees gifted to France from America in 1776 as a thank you for their assistance in the Revolutionary War. The trees were imported from Virginia and planted in the gardens of Versailles as part of the renovation ordered by Louis XVI. The wine opener is accented with a lily flower—the emblem of the French Kingdom—as well as Laguiole's iconic “bee”, a reference to Napoleon Bonaparte’s imperial seal. With a wine opener, serrated foil cutter, and bottle opener. Includes wine opener, leather sheath, and gift box. Variations will appear in the color/burl of the handle. Closed 4 1/2" L. (4 oz.)
