Cord stitching first became popular in Ireland in 1870 as a way for chambermaids to differentiate quality among the various linens; five rows signified the highest quality. Made from 100% long staple cotton chosen for their exceptionally fine fibers, the sheets have a 400-thread count and the detailed rows are sewn by hand at 28 stitches per inch.
