Product Story

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1900s, this desktop globe is based on a concept that was intended for one of his Prairie Homes but never came to fruition. Made by Replogle Globes, crafters of fine world globes for 89 years, the desktop globe is based on a sketch found in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation archives. The stand exhibits the form-follows-function principle, strong horizontal lines, and simplified geometric forms that were hallmarks of the Prairie School movement. Political boundaries are marked by thin lines and labeled in bold typeface. The 6" globe rests at a 23.5º angle, replicating the earth’s position in relation to the sun, and has a full-swing, die-cast metal meridian. Stand has a deep walnut stain. Select Antique or Black globe. 14" H x 8 1/4" W x 8 1/4" D. (4 lbs.)
