This is the desktop clock that incorporates a Galileo thermometer, barometer, and hygrometer. Based upon the temperature/density observations that Galileo used to create the original, a liquid parrafin-filled glass cylinder suspends a series of handblown glass balls filled with differing amounts of colored oil. Marked with a metal tab that indicates an incremental range of temperatures between 64° F and 80° F, each ball rises or falls as the surrounding air warms or cools—the lowest ball at the top indicates the current temperature within 3 1/2° F. Manual calibration for local atmospheric pressure; provides readings in both mmHg and inches. Hygrometer indicates relative humidity as a percentage. Clock uses battery-powered quartz movement. 12 1/4" H x 6 1/4" W x 2 1/2" D. (1 1/2 lbs.)
