This is the tool chest handmade by H. Gerstner & Sons, crafter of solid-wood tool chests and cases for 113 years. Built with exacting standards to ensure generations of reliable use—Orville Wright used a Gerstner chest for tool storage—it is constructed from solid quartersawn, American white oak painstakingly fitted by hand using tongue and groove joinery, lock joint corners, and with hand-gauge-measured fit tolerances. Seven drawers range from 1 1/16"- to 2 9/16"-high drawers provide 2,600 cubic inches of storage to accommodate everything from nuts and bolts to precision hand gouges and drawknives. Each drawer is lined with hunter green felt that wicks away moisture to protect tools from rust and rot. A felt-lined panel slides out from the chest’s bottom to to provide an 18" W x 10" D work surface; it also hinges upward to cover the drawers. Polished nickel hardware. A three-step stain and lacquer finish hand-rubbed into the grain imparts a rich, golden color to the wood. 13 1/2" H x 20" W x 10 1/2" D. (26 lbs.)
