Designed by renowned audio engineer Henry Kloss¿and widely lauded by audio experts and critics¿this desktop radio/CD player delivers sound worthy of a rack stereo, despite being designed in three small cherry cabinets that fit on a bookshelf. Two of the cabinets hold a 3" speaker backed by a heavyweight, long-throw magnet and are capable of filling a room with pure, undistorted sound even at high volume. The high-performance tuner, a model of simplicity, is adorned by three knobs: volume, AM/FM/auxiliary selection, and an analog tuning dial. The dial has a 5:1 tuning ratio for precise, silky adjusting, and its FM tuner appropriates technology usually reserved for cell phones and military radio-encryption gear, for crisp reception on even closely spaced stations. The front-loading CD player, in a separate cabinet, features easy-to-use buttons on the face, with more controls on the credit-card-size remote. The late Kloss, a legend among audiophiles, is known for creating audio components with balanced tone and sumptuous bass, delivered without bulky speaker cones or cases. Plugs into AC via 9' cord.
