Product Story
This hat drives biting insects away with a bonded-in insect repellent. The odorless EPA-registered repellent permethrin is bonded to water-repellent 10-oz. cotton duck, providing safe protection from mosquitoes, ticks, no-see-ums, and black flies without the greasiness, odor, and time-consuming application of sprays or lotions. From Tilley Endurables, Canada's premier purveyor of travel clothing for over 25 years, the hat is sewn by hand with all threads lockstitched so they won't pull loose. It blocks 98% of UV rays for a UPF rating of 50+ (the highest possible) and its wide, down-sloping brim shields your neck and face from sun and rain. Air vents and a moisture-wicking headband keep your head cool. The crown has a hidden pocket, and an adjustable cord secures the hat in breezy conditions. Crushable and packable, the hat maintains its insect repellent effectiveness through 70 washings. Khaki. Machine wash. Sizes S (7 1/8), M (7 1/4), L (7 3/8), XL (7 1/2), or XXL (7 5/8). (6 oz.)
To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper size according to the standard hat sizing chart shown below.
- Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
- Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
- Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
