This is the life-size cast skull of Stan, a tyrannosaur first unearthed in South Dakota’s Black Hills in 1992. Considered the best-preserved and most complete dinosaur skull yet discovered in the world, the original was found in a distarticulated state—each bone was separated from the others—allowing the bones to be preserved with little or no distortion or crushing despite millions of years of burial.
