Made from high-density plastic that ensure years of handling, the classic tournament-quality Staunton chess pieces (pawns are 1 1/4" high; Kings are 2 1/2" high) stand “up” on the board—unaware of their horizontal orientation—thanks to a metal playing surface covered in canvas that provides 1 1/2" sq. black and white spaces as well as space for holding captured pieces.
